After an intense first week of lectures and debates, the weekend at the 24th Visegrad Summer School offered the cohort a profound shift in perspective, balancing solemn remembrance with cultural discovery.
Saturday, July 11th: A Day of Reflection
The group stepped away from the classroom for a full-day field visit to the Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum. It was a deeply moving and heavy day dedicated to reflection. Following the recent academic discussions on wartime morality and historical responsibility, walking through this memorial served as a stark, physical reminder of the catastrophic consequences of hatred, and the absolute necessity of protecting human rights and truth in our modern world.
Sunday, July 12th: Discovering Kraków
After a quiet and solemn Saturday, Sunday afternoon was dedicated to exploring the vibrant history of our host city. Under the watchful eye and vast knowledge of our expert guide, Paulina Skotnicka, the participants went on a comprehensive Guided Tour around Kraków. From medieval legends to hidden architectural gems, it was the perfect way to stretch our legs, bond as a group, and experience the true magic of the city we get to call home for these 10 days!
