Paweł Filipek

Paweł Filipek, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the Institute of European Studies, Jagiellonian University, Ph.D. in Legal Sciences with specialization in Public International Law. Previously worked at the Chair of Public International Law (1997-2007) and coordinated the Jagiellonian University Human Rights Centre (2003-2007) and the Human Rights Clinic (2003-2006). Scholarship holder of the Max-Planck Society (2002-2003). Earlier, Ph.D. candidate at the European Graduate College Heidelberg-Krakow-Mainz (2001-2008), trainee at the Council of Europe on Strasburg (2000) and the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Warsaw (1997). Academic interests in Public International Law, Human Rights Protection, Law and practice of the European Convention on Human Rights, Law of International Organizations, international control.

Adam Daniel Rotfeld

PhD dissertation on the right of self-determination of peoples in modern international law at the Jagiellonian University, Krakow (1969). Habilitation on European Security System in Statu Nascendi; in 2001 appointed Professor at the Warsaw University by the President of Poland. From July 1991 to June 2002 Director of Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI); in 1992 appointed as Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office to elaborate the settlement of the conflict in the Trans-Dniester region of Moldova. From 2000 member of the President’s National Security Council; Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Polish government from January until October 2005. Author of numerous books, monographs and articles. 

Barbara Sośnicka

After her Master of Arts degree at the Institute of Oriental Languages at the University of Warsaw, Mrs Sośnicka studied International Relations at The Polish Institute of International Affairs in Warsaw, then completed her studies at the Academy of International Law in The Hague, International Institute of Public Administration in Paris and University of Mons. Since 1987 she has worked at the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Polish Embassies in Managua, Caracas, Brussels and Lima. Now she is Deputy Director of Europe at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Ukrainian diplomat and politician, twice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine in five governments under two Presidents (1998-2000, 2005-2007), Vice-President of the EURONEST Parliamentary Assembly. Founder and Director (since 2001) of the Institute for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation and Chairman of the Board of the magazine "Euroatlantic". Leader of the political party “People's Movement of Ukraine” (2003-2012), Deputy Head of All-Ukraine Union “Bat'kivschyna” party (since 2013). Member of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine (since 2002 till now), Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs (since 2014). Chair of Inter-factional Group “Ukraine in NATO”. Head of the Parliamentary Committee for European Integration (2002-2005, 2006 and 2007-2012). Since 1975 he served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Mission at the UN (1981-1986), member of Delegation to UN Security Council (1984-1985), Ambassador of Ukraine to the Benelux countries (1995-1998), Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO (1997-1998). Has the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary (since 1992).

Graduated from Foreign Trade Department at the Central School of Planning and Statistics, and completed post-graduate German and International Law Studies. Joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1972. 1978-1982 the Second Secretary at the Polish Embassy in the Hague, 1988-1989 Counsellor at the Polish Embassy in Brussels,1989-1993 Counsellor-Minister Plenipotentiary at the Permanent Mission to the European Communities in Brussels,1996-2001 Ambassador to the European Union in Brussels. In 2001 Under Secretary of State at Chancellery of President of Poland, responsible for European integration matters. In 2005 State Secretary in the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since October 2005 Director of the Polish-German Cooperation Foundation (Stiftung für Deutsch-Polnische Zusammenarbeit).
